The Beaufort Scale has different wind categories.

Each category has a number, description, wind speed, wave height and sea condition.

The Beaufort Scale starts at Force 0 which is calm.

There is no wind.

0 Calm 0 kn 0 m Flat. Like a Mirror.

The next category is light air.

The wind is 1-3 knots. Small ripples appear.

The wind is starting to move the water.

1 Light Air 1-3 kn 0-0.2 m Ripples without crests.
